This is a parenting program that will give Broken Hill parents the confidence and capability to guide their teenagers around the influences of today’s toxic culture. Safe Passage is a DVD based program, which will help to combat the high rate of youth drug and alcohol use and related incidents in remote NSW.
It is designed to give parents and guardians a toolkit of practical ideas, which can be implemented immediately. This program unlocks the power of the parent and brings together key parenting-in-the-drug-age-concepts. Parents are given a clear understanding and are shown useful skills and actions to take, which they can then refine and expand.
Safe Passage is one of the many programs offered as part of the Drink Safe Community Initiative, a multi-faceted project involving community education, health promotion, harm minimisation and social marketing. The project aims to reduce risky drinking behaviours in Broken Hill over a 2 year period.
The sessions will be held: Tuesday mornings from 10am to 12 noon, at the Broken Hill High School.
The dates are 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th of September 2009.
Morning Tea will be supplied.
Any parents interested in attending all four FREE sessions are invited to register your interest at the administration office at the school. Places are limited.
